初爻：鼎颠趾，利出否。得妾以其子，无咎。 The cauldron's legs are overturned — favorable to pour out the stale. Gaining a concubine and her son; no harm. Clear the old to make room for the new.
二爻：鼎有实，我仇有疾，不我能即，吉。 Food fills the cauldron — my adversary is ill and cannot approach; auspicious. With substance, envy cannot harm you.
三爻：鼎耳革，其行塞，雉膏不食。方雨亏悔，终吉。 The cauldron's handles are removed — movement blocked; the pheasant cannot be eaten. Rain falls; loss but ultimate good fortune. Conditions are poor but will improve.
四爻：鼎折足，覆公餗，其形渥，凶。 The cauldron's leg breaks — spilling the duke's feast, making a mess; danger. Overburdened leads to total collapse.
五爻：鼎折足，覆公餗，其形渥，凶。 The cauldron has yellow handles and metal rings — favorable to stay upright. The vessel is complete and refined; ready for use.
上爻：鼎黄耳金铉，利贞。 The cauldron has jade rings — supremely auspicious; nothing unfavorable. The most precious vessel; great fortune.
