겸(謙) — 땅 위에 산. 높은 산이 대지 속에 숨어 있다. 진정한 실력자는 낮은 자세를 취한다. 겸손은 사람에게 이로움을 준다.

효별 해설

초효：谦谦君子，用涉大川，吉。

이효：鸣谦，贞吉。

삼효：劳谦，君子有终，吉。

사효：无不利，撝谦。

오효：不富以其邻，利用侵伐，无不利。
Not enriched at neighbors' expense — favorable for campaign. Do not compare; act on your own terms.

상효：鸣谦，利用行师，征邑国。
Proclaiming modesty — favorable to discipline your own domain. Humility is not weakness; act when needed.
