소과(小過) — 우레 위에 산. 우레가 산 위에서 약간 지나친다. 작은 일은 약간 과해도 된다. 큰일은 정확해야 한다. 새처럼 낮게 나는 것이 안전하다.
효별 해설
초효：飞鸟以凶。 A bird in flight brings danger. Anything taken to excess is not good.
이효：过其祖，遇其妣。不及其君，遇其臣。无咎。 Passing the grandfather, meeting the grandmother. Missing the ruler, encountering the minister. No harm. Slight excess but still acceptable.
삼효：弗过防之，从或戕之，凶。 Do not guard against him excessively — following may lead to harm; danger. Over-defense backfires.
사효：无咎。弗过遇之，往厉必戒。勿用永贞。 No harm. Do not treat him with excess — going brings danger; stay alert.

상효：弗遇过之，飞鸟离之，凶。是谓灾眚。 Unable to meet, instead passing beyond — the bird flies away; danger. This is calamity. Excess at the extreme becomes disaster.
