Difficulty — Hexagram Detail — I Ching 64 Fortune Telling

坎宫Element水#3

Zhun (Difficulty at the Beginning) — Water above Thunder below. Like a seed breaking through soil, initial hardship is full of vitality. All beginnings are difficult, but the force of new life will eventually overcome obstacles.

Line-by-Line

Line 1:
Hesitating and circling — favorable to stay put and establish foundations. Beginnings are hard; perseverance and patience are needed.
Stuck and circling on horseback. Not bandits but a suitor; the maiden stays chaste, marrying only after ten years. Delayed but fruitful.
Line 3:
Chasing deer without a guide only gets you lost. The wise see the moment and let go — pursuing further brings regret.
Line 4:
Circling on horseback — going to propose brings good fortune. Conditions are ripening; it is time to act.
Line 5:
Accumulate goodwill — small matters fare well, big matters bring danger. Strength is not yet sufficient; avoid major undertakings.
Line 6:
Circling on horseback, weeping tears of blood. At the extreme of difficulty, but reversal is near.
