Line 1：师出以律，否臧凶。 The army marches with discipline — without it, danger. Do things with order and principles.
Line 2：在师中，吉无咎，王三锡命。 In the midst of the army — good fortune, no harm. The ruler bestows orders three times. Trusted and entrusted.
Line 3：师或舆尸，凶。 The army may carry corpses — danger. Internal problems and serious losses.
Line 4：师左次，无咎。 The army camps on the left — no harm. Retreat and wait; avoid direct confrontation.
Line 5：田有禽，利执言，无咎。长子帅师，弟子舆尸，贞凶。 Game in the fields — favorable to hunt. The elder leads the army; the younger carries corpses — choose the right people.
Line 6：大君有命，开国承家，小人勿用。 The ruler issues decrees — founding states and households. Small people must not be entrusted. After success, choose wisely.
